A Father to the Fatherless

A Father to the Fatherless

The biggest threat to children is not abuse but it is divorce says the UNICEF report in 2012. The absent father may well be the most critical social issue of our time.

In fatherless America, David Blackenhorn calls the crisis of fatherless children “the most destructive trend of our generation.”

A recent British report from the University of Birmingham, Dad and Me, confirms David Blackenhorn’s claims, concluding that the need for a father is on an epidemic scale and “father deficit” should be treated as a health issue.

Information from the fatherless generation website shows quite alarming statistics with regards to fatherless homes and it shows that in every area of life fatherless children generally do worse than children with fathers who are active in their life.

But you have seen it, you observe trouble and grief, you repay it by your hand the helpless commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.” -Psalms 10:14

If you don’t have a relationship with your biological father I can assure you that you have a Heavenly Father who is more faithful than any earthly father and if you commit to Him you will experience even greater acceptance than what you are seeking from your earthly father.

We have to be careful that we don’t condemn our earthly father for not being there for us when we won’t be faithful to our Heavenly Father who has always accepted and loved us.

For those of you who are from a fatherless household and you are suffering emotional challenges because your father was never there for you or he has said things which he has not done. Well, you can do something; begin to manage your emotions and your life.

It is important to understand that choices make your life, not what people have done to you. You have to work to eliminate negative mindsets about your father, even if he has let you down.

Remember, you don’t always have the full picture. Negative mindsets can be toxic to your emotional wellbeing. However, when you begin to release and forgive your father you will begin the process of repairing and recovering your emotional wellbeing. This takes moment by moment choices to forgive and release.

When you do you will be amazed that something of a miracle begins to take place in your life. The cells in your body will get healthy, your mind will become active and alive, energy and strength will return to your life and your faith in Christ will begin to abound. The bible says:

In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror; because it shall not come near you”. -Isaiah 54:14
