The Lord God said, it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. (Gen. 2:18)
And the lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and closed up the flesh in its place.
Then the rib which the lord God had taken from man He made into woman and he brought her to the man (Gen.2:21-22)
God said earlier (Gen.2:18 that it was not good for the man to be alone. The man needed a help meet, fit suitable for his life and for his needs. The woman was that help fit for the inadequacy of the man in order to bring him into fullness and completeness.
In making the woman, God had to make the man’s need acute and apparent. A rib was taken out of him and was used to make the woman. Whatever the rib signifies, the truth is that the man became incomplete the moment the rib was removed from him. He became a fraction of a whole and it was that same rib that was used to make his wife for him. For his life and his labour to become complete and wholesome again, that rib had to be contributed back to his life by his wife.
This is God’s expectation for your life and mine as a wife. A part of your husband’s portion in life is in you. You may sometimes see him struggling to change and correct his life, or to be what God wants him to be, yet he cannot achieve that without you because the help he needs to achieve that is located in you. He may use bold face and struggle to get other people to help him, but they are not the one bearing his bone. They may be helpful but they are not suitable for him. What he needs is particularly located in your life as his wife.
Till next time,
