Then Mary said to the angel, how can this be, since I do not know a man? The angel answered and said to her, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the highest will overshadow you… Luke 1: 34-35
“How can this be?” That was the question that Mary asked the Lord and that is also the question many of us asking to day. How can it be, that a nobody like me will become useful in God’s hands?
How will keeping myself pure and recognizing the voice of the Holy Spirit produce in me the seed that will bruise the head of the serpent in my generation?
The answer that the angel gave Mary is simple and it is still the same answer that God gives to us today. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Highest will overshadow you.
The work of God cannot be done by the energy of the flesh but by the Spirit of God. He does not delight in the strength of the horse or in the legs of a man.
The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hopes in His mercy. (psalms 147:10-11)
All you need to do as a child of God is to fear the Lord and hope in His mercy. Prepare yourself for His use. Do all the necessary preparation. Purge yourself from abnormal use and delight yourself in his word and in his presence as Mary did. Build your hope on His mercy alone.
God does His work by His word together with His Spirit. When the fullness of time comes for your own seed to be made manifest, it will not come by your power or your might but by the Holy Spirit.
Simply put, as God speaks to you, the Holy Spirit come upon you afresh, and the power of the highest will overshadow you. Something will happen to you in your heart as you receive the word from God’s mouth and the conception of that seed will come. A burden will drop in your heart and that is what will become the seed you shall bring forth. The conception may not last nine months as it happening to Mary or it may be longer than that; but once it happens, you will surely deliver if there is no miscarriage. You will bring forth that ‘holy seed’ that will fulfil the purpose of God among men.
